Why is marketing at the bottom of my to-do list?

My to-do list as it stands:

  • Feed my children

  • Support my students

  • Maintain my house

  • Maintain my sanity

  • Creative writing

  • Marketing my work.

There aren’t enough hours in the day for such a complex, ever-changing list. Marketing my novel is the unticked priority at the end of every week.

I have tried to weave marketing into my daily tasks, such as mentioning my book to everyone I meet, but this has made me appear weird or arrogant. I’ve devoted a specific time to creating and maintaining a marketing plan. But this golden hour is often subsumed by greater priorities, such as snack times and student queries. The weekend is my best shot at making headway - hence my weekend blog.

I will leave you with this. If you know anyone as frustrated as I am with the destructive force of Capitalism, please recommend my book. I’m hoping this is less weird online than face-to-face. Now, back to walking the dog.
